Ever wonder why our company is called “The Flowerman” or who The Flowerman really is?  Our founder and owner is an enthusiastic and visionary man named Steve Smith.  Steve married into the flower business over 25 years ago when he exchanged vows with his beautiful wife, Jane.  Jane’s family owns a very large flower farm, so Steve and Jane helped the family with their wholesale business by selling the sunny flowers at local farmers’ markets… specifically the 2nd Street Public Market in downtown Dayton.  Steve is a natural salesman, and now everyone in Dayton knows The Flowerman!  (We often hear, “Oh! Your boss is the man who stands on top of things at the market and shouts and waves his arms about the flowers!” … Yep, that’s him!! :)

We thought you’d like to see this video created by activedayton.com that features our boss, The Flowerman himself, Steve Smith!  Enjoy this short interview with the man who created the Do-It-Yourself floral process, and be sure to stop by the market sometime to say “Hi!” and make some eye contact.  He’d love that! :)

Definitely! Around 85% of our Do-It-Yourself brides have never worked with flowers before in their entire life, so you are not alone! The good thing about working with The Flowerman is you don’t have to know how to do or make ANYTHING… honestly. Quite a few brides don’t even know the names of all of their flowers, and that is perfectly fine! We don’t expect you to know anything, and we start from square one. It’s our job to help you learn and create without worry. All basic floral supplies are included with your order, you have free overnight access to our coolers, and our DIY coaches are right there every step of the way to show examples and keep your construction party moving quickly and without confusion. It absolutely COULD NOT BE ANY EASIER! If you really are biting off more than you can chew, we’ll be sure to tell you in your initial consultation so you can switch to a designer or combination wedding… our design team is always available to make some or all of your pieces for you!

(If you do come in knowing a thing or two about flowers, or if you bring someone along in your group who’s designed before, don’t worry. We don’t have to show you examples of everything if you already know what to do. We provide as much instruction as you need and ask for, but if you don’t want any help, then by all means… design away! Looking forward to helping you construct some flowers soon! :) )

Today we had an interesting situation… our Columbus rep made a bride cry in her consultation.  This has never happened before, that we remember.  The twist?  They were tears of joy!  The poor bride had been to other florists with pretty terrible results and lots of outrageous prices.  When she saw our total Do-It-Yourself quote for her wedding, she literally cried right there at the consultation table.  And that, my friends, is what The Flowerman is all about.  :)

We here at The Flowerman absolutely LOVE getting feedback from our brides and their family members.  (And we especially love it when the reviews are raving! ;) )   Both of our Ohio stores received five-star reviews from brides this week.  The Flowerman is the best!!!  But don’t take our word for it… :)

What DIY brides are saying about The Flowerman in Dayton:

“We wanted flowers, but without spending a fortune. We were able to get all the bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, and even centerpiece flowers for under our budget.  My bridesmaid and I went on Friday to make the flowers and they were very helpful… it was much simpler than what I thought it would be.  The flowers looked good, and I liked that they had a more personal touch.”

What DIY brides are saying about The Flowerman in Columbus:

“We used the Flowerman in Columbus for my daughter’s May 22nd wedding, and it was amazing. Working with Melissa was soooo fun and easy, I can actually say it was just what we needed two days before the wedding… 4 hrs of relaxing aroma and visual therapy with stunning results!!!!!  Everyone raved about the flowers and couldn’t believe we had done them ourselves.  My daughter was so happy!  Welcome to Columbus, Flowerman!”
